💼Working Days Calculator

How the Date Calculator Works

This calculator is useful for project planning, contract deadlines, event scheduling, or anyone who needs to know exactly what date falls a certain number of days, weeks, months or years away. It supports three modes: adding time to a date, subtracting time from a date, and finding the difference between two dates.

Add / Subtract Mode

Each unit you enter (years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes) is applied directly to the date's calendar fields, with weeks converted to 7 days each. For subtraction, the same amounts are applied as negative values, so the underlying JavaScript date engine correctly rolls back across month and year boundaries.

Date Difference Mode

The two dates are ordered chronologically, then years, months and days are found the same way as an age calculation: subtract field by field, borrowing a month or year when a field goes negative. Total days is the exact millisecond gap divided by 86,400,000, and every calendar day in the range is checked to separately count working days (Monday–Friday) versus weekend days (Saturday–Sunday).

Working Days Finder

Starting from your chosen date, the calculator steps forward one calendar day at a time, skipping Saturdays and Sundays, until it has counted the number of working days you asked for — useful for estimating business-day delivery or processing deadlines.

Date Calculator FAQs

What is the difference between 'Add/Subtract' and 'Date Difference' modes?

Add/Subtract takes a single starting date and moves it forward or backward by the years, months, weeks, days, hours and minutes you specify, giving you a resulting date. Date Difference instead takes two dates and tells you exactly how far apart they are in years, months, days, total days, working days and weekends.

Are weekends excluded automatically?

Only in the working-days figures. The main year/month/day and total-days results always count every calendar day; the separate 'Working Days' and 'Weekends' stats in the difference view break that same range down by weekday.

How does the Working Days Calculator find a future business date?

It moves forward one day at a time from your start date and only counts a day if it falls Monday through Friday, stopping once it reaches the number of working days you requested. This mirrors how many businesses calculate processing or delivery deadlines.

Can I calculate a date far in the past or future?

Yes, any valid calendar date supported by your browser can be used as the start, end, or add/subtract base date.

Why might total days not divide evenly by 7 into weeks?

Total weeks is calculated as the whole number of complete 7-day periods in the total day count, so any remaining days beyond the last full week are simply not shown as a separate week.
