How the Currency Converter Works

Use this tool when traveling abroad, shopping on an international site, or estimating the value of foreign income or invoices. Enter an amount and pick a source and target currency from 29 supported world currencies to get an instant conversion.

Conversion Formula

Converted Amount = Amount × (Rateto ÷ Ratefrom)

Every currency's rate is stored relative to a common base (US Dollar = 1.00). To convert between any two currencies, we divide the target currency's rate by the source currency's rate to get the effective exchange rate, then multiply by your amount. The reversed rate shown alongside is simply 1 divided by that exchange rate.

About the Exchange Rates

The rates used here are reference values intended for estimation and planning. Real-world bank and card-network exchange rates fluctuate throughout the trading day and typically include a margin or transaction fee, so your actual conversion at a bank or exchange counter may differ slightly from the figure shown here.

Currency Converter FAQs

How is the converted amount calculated?

We take your entered amount and multiply it by the target currency's rate divided by the source currency's rate, since all rates are stored relative to a common USD base. For example, converting USD to INR multiplies your amount by (INR rate ÷ USD rate).

Are these live, real-time exchange rates?

The rates are reference values used for quick estimation and are updated periodically rather than streamed live from a market feed. For time-critical transactions, confirm the exact rate with your bank or payment provider.

Why might my bank give me a different rate than shown here?

Banks and card networks apply their own margin or conversion fee on top of the underlying market rate, and rates change continuously during market hours, so the number your bank quotes will typically differ slightly from a reference rate like this one.

What does the 'reversed rate' mean?

It shows how much of your source currency one unit of the target currency is worth — the mathematical inverse (1 divided by) the main exchange rate — which is useful when you want to think about the conversion in the opposite direction.

Can I convert between any two of the listed currencies?

Yes. All 29 supported currencies are cross-converted through their shared USD-based rate, so you can convert directly between any pair, such as EUR to JPY or GBP to AED.
