How Cumulative GPA (CGPA) Is Calculated

This calculator combines the GPA and credits of multiple semesters into one overall cumulative GPA. It is different from the plain GPA Calculator, which only works out a single semester's GPA from subject grades, and from the CGPA to Percentage Calculator, which converts an already-known CGPA into a percentage.

Formula

Cumulative GPA = (Σ semester GPA × semester credits) ÷ (Σ semester credits)

Each semester's grade points = that semester's GPA × its total credits.
All semesters' grade points are summed and divided by the sum of all credits to get the cumulative GPA.
Academic standing (First Class, Second Class, etc.) is derived from the cumulative GPA as a percentage of the maximum scale.
Eligibility for placements (6.0+), higher studies (7.0+) and scholarships (8.0+) is checked against common Indian benchmarks.
A trend (improving, declining, stable) is calculated by comparing your latest semester GPA to the one before it.
