This calculator estimates daily and monthly feed - dry fodder, green fodder, concentrate, minerals, salt and water - for milking cows, dry cows, buffalo, goats, sheep and poultry, helping dairy and livestock farmers budget feed quantity and cost accurately.
Base Feed by Animal Type
Each animal type has standard daily requirements - for example a milking cow needs about 6 kg dry fodder, 25 kg green fodder and 40+ litres water, while a goat needs only about 1 kg dry fodder, 3 kg green fodder and 5 litres water.
Age & Milk Production Adjustments
Adjusted feed = Base feed × Age factor (young 0.7×, adult 1.0×, senior 0.85×)
Extra concentrate = Milk production (L/day) × 0.4 kg (cow) or × 0.5 kg (buffalo)
Milking animals get roughly 400g of extra concentrate per litre of milk (cows) or 500g per litre (buffalo), plus 3-4 extra litres of water per litre of milk produced.

A milking cow typically needs about 6 kg dry fodder, 25 kg green fodder, 40+ litres of water, plus roughly 400 grams of extra concentrate for every litre of milk produced daily, so total concentrate scales up with milk yield.
Why does milk production increase concentrate and water requirements?
Milk synthesis demands extra energy and protein, so about 400g of concentrate per litre of milk (500g for buffalo) is added on top of the base ration, and 3-4 extra litres of water per litre of milk are needed to support milk's high water content.
How does age affect feed quantity for livestock?
